Rainy and cold here, we expect a snowstorm over the weekend.

Temperatures in Moscow have plummeted to -30'C.

They say its -60'C in Canada, anyone from there?

today it's snow, snow and more snow with below 0 temperaures.

We had a record of 672 kilomters of traffic jams today this morning.

fucking sunny with a temepture of 35ºC grrrr.... hahaha

672 kilomters of traffic jams today this morning.

Thats the entire distance of Bulgaria - Western border of Serbia all the way to the Black sea?

Are you sure?

Any pics, links sources?

What caused this traffic jam?

You said snow is unusual in the Netherlands?

What about airports, are they affected?

Yes I am sure, it was all on the news.

Heavy snowfall, in conjunction with freezing temperatures caused many trucks to slide off the road or jacknife on the roads.
The snow was predicted, but we still had many traffic jams.

i had to work today, and my maximum speed I could drive today was 40 KPH.

Many flights were delyaed or cancelled.

Any pics would be great.

We expect a snow storm too in the next 24 hours.

Is snow unusual in the Netherlands? How many centimetres?

Yes, it is very unusual.

Here in my hometown, about 5 centimters fell.

In the north, there were reports of snowdunes on the freeway up to a meter high!!

In Brussels there was a snowfall of 20 centimeters...

5 cm is nothing.

Snow up to 70 cm is common in Bulgaria.

I will take pics tomorrow and show you. :)

Snow has caused travel misery for millions of Brits, here are some pics from today:

A street scene in East London

i bit of snow and the uk grinds to a halt again pffffffff,

kitanaprincess would happliy swap the weather :)

It's all snowy and blizzardy but not super cold until the wind blows so hard it's like below zero. I'll take a pic tomorrow when I have to go to work. I'd rather stay home and watch the snow from my cozy living room while enjoying my fake fireplace.:(

Yes, I heard on the news that blizzards have hit the East Coast...if you can post a pic it would be awesome verlup.

Be careful tomorrow if its slippery, more than 100 people broke their legs in less than 12 hours here! Hospitals were overwhelmed.

Blizzards continued today in the UK, snow covers the whole of Europe.

In some places in Germany it is -30'C or even colder esp in the mountains.

In Moscow it is -25'C during the day.

After brutal blizzards and cold (as low as -20'C) today was an amazing 25'C in Bulgaria, setting an all time record for warmest day in December.

In Italy people went to the beach on Christmas day, people wear t-shirts here.

Windows open like it is mid-summer.

The change in temeprature came with gale-force winds tearing off roofings and snapping trees.

The warm air is blowing into Europe from Africa, while further north an arctic air masse pushes south.

This makes the weather over Europe unsettled, bringing snow, strong wind, rain further south and thundestorms in Northern Africa were substantial flooding has been reported.

ARCTIC

Cold air from the arctitc is blasting from the north today, bringing snow and ice, temperatures during the night plummet to -30'C.

I very much enjoyed reading this tread, and seeing the beautiful pics.

Meatpie, you are so lucky to live where you do. I don't know anything about Bulgaria, but have an idea where its at now. My sons old girlfriend went to Greece a few years ago and loved it there.

Thunder, and lightning is my favorite. We never get that kind of whether here.

Right now the temperature is 49 f here, cloudy skies, very boring.

Meatpie, you are so lucky to live where you do.

I don't think so. Nature is beautiful but we have a lot of problems here like unemployment and crime. BTW it finally snowed here overnight, first time in months I've seen snow.

So do we. I dont like living where I do either.

You have snow? Lucky guy, have you gone out and played in it yet? If we get snow this year Im going to make a gore snowman, with red food coloring. LOL I so hope we get some this year.
