The Marines turn men into killing machines. This requires extreme physical and mental conditioning. The problem is that it pushes a body to its' limits and sometimes it brings out suppressed mental issues. Take a guy who has sociopath ideologies that he can suppress in normal life and them pump him full of testosterone. He can lose the ability to keep his rage under control. All it takes is some minor annoyance to set him off like a spark did to the Hindenburg. He beat another Marine to death. That is someone who should have been able to defend himself. Maybe the fault lies more with the Marine's screening and training methods than it does with the accused.

Quite accurate that the military teaches one to fight. Too bad, the USA has so many men go through the military and into combat all over the world then they become police and kill at will.

probably PTSD. I work with many of them and that is the typical reaction of a patient with PTSD.
