The Australian military evacuated a town's entire population by helicopter after the worst rains in a decade on Dec 27, 2010

A total of 1,000 people were rescued from the town of Theodore, in eastern Australia, with swollen rivers expected to rise higher as torrential rain continues.

At least two other Queensland towns - Emerald and Bundaberg - were also preparing to evacuate.
