If I went to death row, Id choose the firing squad as a SECOND option...Next to getting eaten by the hungry ravenous prisoners

Is this another example of the prisoners being drugged with some anti-anxiety drug first? Let's be honest, being taken out into the desert with your hands tied by guys in military uniform is not going to end well. Yet they seemed to be cooperating even in the way they got off the bus. Only when the were tied against the stake did the tall one seem to be saying something along the lines of, "Hey, wait a minute.... can you clarify exactly what's going on here?". Maybe they only gave him the same dose and it is spread too thin because he is tall. What was the identity of each side? And why were they being executed? Do they perhaps drug the prisoners because it makes it easier for the men executing them maybe?

Generally, those sentenced to death allow themselves to be taken without resistance to their place of execution.
Maybe there's a point where you accept the inevitability of even an undue and untimely death and try to find a way of making your last few hours / minutes / seconds more tolerable? Or you become passive in the hope they'll let their guard down and provide an avenue for escape? There was one incident where in the middle east somewhere a group of guys were going to be shot and one of the prisoners suddenly leapt and picked up the gun of one of the captors and shot him. Can't remember how the scene eventually unfolded though.
