Ok, sins on another topic we had a streak going about the biggest FUCKS that happened.

With FUCKS I mean stuff that impacted the world.

So, what did you experienced, lived and felt when you were growing up?

I'll throw off first.

- Chernobyl Explosion
- Going to West-Berlin during the days of the Iron Curtain
- Visiting Moscow during Perestroika and Glasnost
- The tearing down of the Great Berlin Wall
- Pop Music being born (yes!!)
- Becoming a member of the Nintendo Age!!
- Experience Computers First hand. (The commodore Age)
- The break up of the Soviet Union
- The release of Nelson Mandela
- A free South Africa
- Saturday Morning Cartoons on the BBC
- Studying English (a world opened)
- Getting my first date (it was a female though)
- SURFING INTERNET!!!
- Getting my Bachelor in Chemistry
- Re-routing to getting a Bachelor's degree in ICT
- My first trip to Japan and Asia
- Finding CDG
- Meeting new friends who share my lust
- Having my comming out
- Meeting the guy I fell in love with
- Going to the United States for the first (and not the last) time
- The attack on the WTC and the Pentagon by terrorists

Well, that sums it up a bit nicely....

Maybe more highlights...but those are either forgotten or not resurfacing at the moment...

I look forward to your....moments in time!!

You have a long list there!

Here is mine:

- chernobyl disaster.
- fall of communism, first-hand experience.
- Massive earthquake in Turkey in 1999. I was unfortunate enough to be on a vacation at the Black Sea when it struck, at the most southern tip, near the epicentre. It was 3 am in the morning. I experienced violent, massive shaking I will never forget how water sploshed in bottles for more than a minute. I thought that was it. I held on to some railings on the balcony while it kept throwing everything back and forth. We slept outside in blankets like refugees. My sister suffered post-traumatic stress disorder from that.
- 9/11, watched the whole thing live on TV. First time I didn't sleep for two days in a row in my life and longest time I've watched TV.
- Indian Ocean Tsunami. Although not personally affected by it I was impressed by the amount of devastation it caused and how massive and wide spread it was.
- Suicide of my 20-year-old cousin in the summer of 2008. I heard about a dead body on the news, they said it was a young man. I thought poor dude.
Next day mom comes to me and says, "Bobby is dead".

---------

Who knows what will come, death is certain but how and where??? :sm (17):

WOW - this will take some soul searching -

Directly influential and/or experienced . .
- Northridge earthquake
- 9/11
- Death of Princess Di (I know, keep your comments to your damn selves! ;))
- Internet - The whole world was now at my fingertips(and CDG and internet pron!)
- Star Wars - I lost myself in fantasy before I could accept myself.
- Coming out (life changing)
- Rise of AIDS and my 1st partner's death
- Seeing my first Madonna concert in 2001.
- Seeing RENT for the first time.
- Joining the Army
- The election of Obama
- Columbine shootings - was in Littleton 10 days after for a convention.
- The Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- OJ's trial. Not so much influential on me, as for everyone around me.
- Hurricane Katrina - Leveled my high school.

There's more - I need to really THINK on this..

Indirect influence-
- The Challenger explosion
- Fall of USSR and Berlin Wall
- Vietnam
- Reagan's term in office.

Again, I need to delve into my soul - I know there are more - I reserve the right to add to my list.

GREAT TOPIC AND LISTS, GUYS!!!:sm (8):

Maybe I'm just kinda out of it, but generally stuff I see and hear about in the media doesn't affect me much. Kind of like, as Samuel Johnson said, no man ever ate his dinner the worse on account of politics.

However, the big exception, to me, was the assassination of Harvey Milk. I was very young and it really, really shook me. I almost wondered if it was the start of a pogrom against gay people or something. I may have proved Dr. Johnson wrong that day.

(The movie just coming out has reminded me all over again how awful it was.)

Sorry about your partner JM, how old was he? Are you positive? And where was your highschool, I don't think Katrina reached as far as San Diego? Maybe I am wrong or maybe you moved there after 2005?

Thanks Meat - he was 30 when he passed. I was 21. We were only together a year and a half. Nope - I am neg - get tested regularly for work, but to be honest, I don't do anything sexually that would spread the virus. (Tale of two tops.) And I grew up in New Orleans - from age 4 to 17.

OH JM, New Orleans,man!

Your heart must have "sunk" in 2005 after Katrina.

I love how Americans move from city to city, not that we don't do it here but you have a whole continent to choose from.

Well, at least there are no hurricanes in San Diego???

But some scientists claim California will be devastated by a strong earthquake :(

Nasty shit.

To be honest, I was heartbroken. And now that the city is even WORSE crime-wise (before the hurricane, it was the murder capital of the US) I am DEVASTATED. Now thanks to the EU - you can move at will over a continent, too!

I thought LA and Vegas were "crime capitals" as you said, interesting why do you think its worse now?

Detroit third? WTF? Why

Thanks JM, always so informative you are better than the BBC.

What surprised me was NYC isn't on there.

I know this is an old list. Anyone want to update it?
