Most of us don't have connections with funeral homes, police, etc. So I thought we could share some techniques, etc. to find more pics, etc. of cute dead guys. How do you do a search and what do you use?

Many people here know that my interest is pretty specific (dead squids/squidages). So I normally start with Google News. I usually use three words/phrases: motorcycle, motorcycle chase and motorcyclist. The reason I use motorcycle chase is just to make sure that I don't miss one.

Then after scanning articles and picking up ones I am interested, I look up names on Google, MySpace, and Facebook. I also look up Photobucket sometimes. Occasionally, I find videos of dead squids on Youtube and MySpace video. It is exciting to see these now dead guys doing something hot and crazy.

Using MySpace is straight forward. I search names with "People", "All MySpace", and "Images." You may have to look for more than one name. For example, if the person's name is Robert, you need to look for Rob, Bob, Bobby, etc. Sometimes these people go by their middle name. When you search "All MySpace" and "images", adding RIP can be useful. You should also look for MySpace of families and friends. I found some pics of Brandon (the Tulsa Biker) at his mother's MySpace. I have also posted funeral pics that I found off MySpaces.

Facebook is also straightforward, but it has a more limited use. I also have never been able to locate people with the location function. However, it has many memorial pages ("Groups"), and I also found funeral pics here.

Photobuckets are not all that useful, but once in a while you can find pics of dead people when they were alive. I found pics of this dude who pulled a wheelie and crashed into a parked unmarked police car. I also found a lot of pics of this serviceman who died in police chase, posted by his mother.

I also check legacy.com, mem.com, and memory-of.com. The latter one has a gallery section, and I have collected pics of dead squids.

That is what I do with American one. In addition to what I just described, I may search for accident reports if I am that interested. Occasionally I order newspaper.

Generally, accident reports are boring. The best ones are prepared by The Ohio Highway Patrol. Witness's handwriting is pretty tough to read, though. I have read one prepared by Illinois State Police, and it was good. Other States' tend to be shorter version of what they really have, and they can be boring. The ones from Arkansas have some issues. Sometimes scanning is horrible. I have one from this state about this motorcyclist on 06' yellow/blue CBR1000RR. He was nearly decapitated and his internal organs were outside of his body. That was the only great one I can remember. Ones from Maine and Indiana are typically short and boring. New Mexico used to have an online request page, but it is gone. Some of the reports were decent. Reports from Charlotte (NC) used to be free, but now they charge $4.00. I don't recall much about ones from Nebraska, so it must have been boring. This site can be useful sometimes: http://policereports.us/

Autopsy reports are much harder to come by. I have one from Ohio and Texas. I also have Coroner's reports from Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin. Check this web site to find out if autopsy reports are exempt or not: http://www.rcfp.org/ogg/index.php

For foreign ones, I use Google Translate to find pics that I want. The key here seems using as many synonyms as you can think of. Some of the words that Google Translate suggests may be correct, but may not be popular. In case of motorcycle related pictures, I would use motocicleta, motociclista, moto, motoqueiro and combine with morre, acidente, vitima, etc. for Brazilian sources. In some cases, a word means the same thing for different languages (e.g., motocilclista -> Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese). In that situation, you may want to specify the domain (e.g., it, mx, br, etc.). And if you find a good image, search for relevant words. These words can be further used to find similar images.

I also go to the generic Google News and country specific one to find some squidages. If there is something I am interested, I would Google and use Facebook to find pics of the dead squid.

I also noticed that news sources that have pics that you like have often posted similar pictures in the past. You may want to use the search function of the news source.

Any comments, suggestions, etc.?

I check out ogrishforum, and sometimes theync.com, m90.org (mostly rather nasty staight porn, but has the occasional good death vid). For searches, I use Google translate, and past the answer into Images, News, Videos etc (does anyone know how to home in on new images, on Google or any other decent search engine?). I'm mainly into hangings - good Spanish terms are ahorca, ahorcado, ahorciamento, colgado, and Indonesian are gantung diri (hanged himself), bunuh (suicide). if you've got the character sets loaded, you can also paste in the translations into non-Western scripts such as Thai and Malay.
In the UK, coroners' reports are deposited in public record offices, but are off-limits for 75 years - there might be some good 1920s-30s ones with photos. If anyone wants to follow this up, PM me!
