Three days ago, construction workers in my neighbourhood severed a thick underground cable and a large portion of the town was left with no phones and no internet connection.
At first I thought they were gonna fix it soon.
We have a friend who works for the phone and internet company and he said, "Listen, to tell you the truth we are not sure we will be able to fix it by the end of the week."
I met the internet maintenance guys - they were doing nothing, smoking and chattting.
"We have run out of cables and we are waiting for a supply from Sofia," one dude told me.
I asked for a compensation of some sort and they said NO.
Then my dad and I decided to end our contract and try WiMAX

I felt terrible because in Sofia I was on fast fiber optic internet - everything downloaded faster then you can open pages and movies downloaded so fast they just piled on my PC and I couldn't watch them all.
I am surprised that my WiMax is faster than my previous adsl although slower than the fibre optic there are no cables and switches that turn off every time there is a storm.
In 2007 our blocks of flats in Sofia was hit by a lightning strike.
There was such an intense thunderstorm, every building got a hit, some several times.
My old PC burned - smoke came out the back like a grill.
:sm (41):
The whole LAN network collapsed and wasn't fully repaired for weeks.
So here are the advantages and disadvantages of WiMax
- no cables, reduced risk of lightning damge to PC
- a lot cheaper - $12 a month for 12 months then reduced at 9 bucks
- strong signal, no risk of severed cables
Disadvantages:
- electromagnetic radiation, similar to a cell phone near the antenna.
What kind of internet source are you guys using?

- Speed
- Monthly Price
- Any disadvantages like risk of damge to PC and health risks
