What I heard about the vault is that they store seeds and DNA of plants and animals that are nearing exctincion or are to be kept safe in case of a global catastrophy. It was all the rage in the news a few years ago

Haiti is very prone to earthquakes. The last large one that hit that left over 100,000 + dead was not new. But because of it's devastating impact and body count, the media went crazy over it. If the body count was about...500 and not over 100,000.....you'd hear about it for a day and this thread would not exist.

Quakes happen. Nothing new or sketchy about it.

The HARP project has been operating for many years. They are experimenting with altering the weather. They do so by projecting a beam of radio waves to heat a small spot in the ionosphere. It does have some effect on the area jet streams and thus the weather. But, the effect is small. It would require a much more powerful beam to have a major impact. Harp did start out as a military experiment to determine if the weather could be controlled to hurt our enemies. But, it was found to be impractical. Now, it is used for scientific weather research to determine if an array could be built to control the weather for our benefit. They are trying to end droughts and prevent severe weather such tornadoes and hurricanes. It can not cause earthquakes.

The DNA vault actually started out as a seed vault. Back when the threat of global nuclear war loomed, scientist started collecting seeds from every known species of plant and preserved them in liquid nitrogen in a laboratory deep in a mine. They started collecting DNA once the technology was developed. The purpose of collecting all of this DNA is have a backup should some disease wipe out an important species. Because of hybridizing and cross breeding, some of our more disease resistant plants and certain animal strains were becoming extinct. Hybrids plants such as corn and rice are given improved traits. But it can make them weak in other ways. Some of our older domesticated animal lines disappeared. But those animals had certain traits that may be valuable.

This basic purpose of the vault is to prevent mass starvation should a disease attack a food source. But, it also is a kind of ARK in case our actions make some animal extinct. (Carrier pigeons are a good example. They are gone.)
