Out of curiosity I wanted to compare prices of some ordinary producs at Tesco with prices in Bulgaria.

It turns out same brand of washing powder is twice as expensive in the UK than in Bulgaria.

For example popular washing powder DAZ which is made by Procter & Gamble is £5.19 at Tesco.

But Procted & Gamble also make Tide and sell it in Bulgaria at half the price.

:dunno:

washing liquid soap for 140 loads is only $ 3.00 here on sale and lasts for 6 months......

May I make a suggestion? Become a NUDIST!:aha:

Many things in the UK are more expensive simply because they are islands. Unless there are local resources for the chemicals in laundry soap such as petroleum, potash and phosphate, the detergent has to be shipped in, mostly by water. The other, more sinister secret that manufacturers don't like brought up is that many products are priced based on what the public is willing to pay. The UK has a higher average income and, because they are islands, less competition. There is probably a higher profit margin for both manufacturer and distributors.
