As expected radioactive particles from Japan's nuclear disaster have reached Europe, exactly ten days after the mega earthquake.

:unreal:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...heats-AGAIN-aftermath-earthquake-tsunami.html

Radioactive material will now rain on our heads, washed by rain and carried by wind radioactive particles will seep into the soil contaminating food and water for years to come.

Not to worry, Meatpie, just breathe in DEEPLY like we did here in LA & you'll be glowing even faster . . . you should see the freeways now . . . !

I don't think it will pose as much a physiological problem as a psychological one. The radioactive particles are very diluted by the time they reach Europe. They will fall to the ground, but they will have little effect because the ground has a certain amount of natural radioactivity. The news agencies make everything seem like a crisis. But, they fail to put it into perspective such as by comparing it to the radioactivity of volcanic ash or to the cosmic rays we are exposed to. Our bodies have a certain amount of tolerance for radioactivity that we developed through evolution. So, unless a lot of radioactive particles are concentrated in one place, nothing will happen.

Not entirely, snerdguy. If a particle lodges in the lungs, the tissue imediately round it can receive a high dose of radiation even though the whole-body dose is barely above background. And if the contamination contains radioiodine, thast will concentrate in the thyroid. But so far the extra radiation outside the immediate area in Japan does seem to be low, so I reckon the risks in Europe or US are petty low _ I'm not lying awake worrying, or kept awake by my own glow.

I agree with DD.

Vast quantities of Caesium-137 were released at Fukushima, once it enters your body it will quickly spread through the blood stream and will give you internal exposure for the rest of your life and beyond. Risk of cancer greatly increased.

Absolutely--now think about the whole era when bomb testing was active, & all animals (including humans) that were exposed to radiation. I've been involved in reviewing breast cancer cases from start to finish (some do make it out alive) & the one striking point is the young age of most of the women. It does cluster around contaminated sites (this was the subject of the litigation) & is horrifying in its scope. It's not natural for any human to develop cancer, of whatever type. We owe a huge debt to the military-industrial complex (Thanks Ike!) for providing this hideous scourge, among others . . .

If you get one sunburn, it can cause just enough damage to cause a cancer at some later time in your life. But, it could also be from exposure to hazardous chemicals, even certain household cleaners or it could be from sitting to close to a TV set if you were a child in the nineteen-fifties or it could be caused by eating charred meat or exposure to leakage from a microwave oven or living near high voltage power lines or breathing second hand smoke or from countless other things that are known causes of cancer. The problem is that it would be nearly impossible to determine if exposure to a few airborne particles of cesium had anything to do with getting it. Lots of things in our daily lives are carcinogens or mutagens. So, if you develop cancer has a lot to do with factors you can't control including your genetic makeup.

The fallout problem from above ground testing of atomic weapons in the Nevada desert is an example of complete disregard for human life by our government. They knew fallout was dangerous. But, they exposed a lot of people to it, including soldiers, to achieve their goal. That fallout was far more concentrated because the above ground nuclear tests shot radioactive dust particles many thousands of feet into the air where the jet stream carried them across the mid west until they fell with the rain. A lot more material was involved than from the nuclear reactors. It entered the milk supply after dairy cattle ate contaminated grass. The radiation from that fallout can still be detected. But, how can you know if people who live in those areas are still being effected?

Its like throwing ten dice to get the same pattern up. It is possible, but very improbable.

exposure to leakage from a microwave oven

A microwave oven works by passing non-ionizing microwave radiation unlike ionizing radiation which is more powerful, chemically active and harmful to living things.

Yes, Pie, this is very true. We have radiation physicists here in the USA who are saying that Fukushima is worse than Chernobyl ever was, and that cancers will increase 4x world-wide as a result of this.

There are mulitiple sources of ionizing radiation being released from Fukushima, and now many embassies are evaculating their staffs from Tokyo.

This crisis is far from over and rather the total seriousness of it is being covered up ... but look how foreign governments are responding -- moving their staffs and even military further and futher away from this disaster -- and this will tell you all that this IS stilll a major crisis and is by far the worse nuclear disaster this world has ever experienced.

Read this link below .. and get the real story about this total ongoing nuclear catastrophe :

News reports are often confusing or misleading, the Japs say there are making progress but at same time levels of radioactivity in the whole of Japan are spiking and this can mean only one thing - a major nuclear accident releasing tons of radioactive material on par with Chernobyl if not worse.

Totally not good, we are all on the same tiny planet and no country is safe if Fukushima keeps pumping radioactive material they will soon start detecting it all over the globe.

PIC released today:
Workers collect data in the control room for Unit 1 and Unit 2. They must wear rubber suits to prevent as much radiation from entering their bodies as possible

Exactly, Pie ... this is a very serious crisis, not at all ending but becoming far worse. Now readings outside of Fukushima are exceeding 1600 x stronger than is safe.

I am presenlty hearing now that U S Military is quietly beginning to evacuate military personnel from Japan and over to a major base in Germany.

I am very sad with the way things are going on Earth.

Not only have we poisoned our home planet but we are slaughtering thousands of marine animals, shark fin soup is now so popular in China that some scientists say sharks may become extinct in a few years.

Bees are dying around the world, no one knows why.

The Amazon jungle is set on fire every day to "make room" for agriculture.

Tons of toxic waste, plastics, chemicals are dumped into the world's oceans every year.

This planet just can't take it anymore and there will be major devastation on an epic scale and we are now seeing the beginning of a global catastrophe - economic collapse combined with wars, peak oil will push prices so high mass starvation will begin.

it's survival of the fittest (richest) at it's finest.

It's Darwin's theory of evolution on a new level.

Human against human.

Poor nations go first - Arab world and Africa then moving to Europe.

The United States will go bakrupt, European Nations are already bankrupt.

Politicans are hiding the true scale of things - that those bailouts they gave to Greece and Ireland are just temporary measures to postpone the meltdown.

Greece has now borrowed so much many in bailouts it will take several generations to repay all it's debt.

We are a doomed species on a planet that is doomed, clearly there are not enough resources for all, this planet can no longer sustain s growing human population.

Unless there is a green revolution and humans learn to live in harmony with nature there will be a catastrophe - both natural disasters and man made.

Large numbers of people need to die quickly those who remain will be able to build a new society that will live in harmony with itself and with nature.
